I have another fun and simple sewing project for you today! I’m going to show you How To Sew A Sock Dinosaur! This super simple sewing project is just what I needed. I have been wanting to take a break from my sewing machine and this little craft is perfect. My kids love these little sock stuffies and I love how cute they turn out. I used a normal sock for this project, but you could use whatever you had laying around. This is a great sewing project for anyone just starting out on their sewing journey. I love doing sewing projects with the kids and this is a great one to do together. They love making stuffed animals they can play with on road trips. This project is a great way to get rid of any mismatched socks you might have laying around. This would make the project basically free and you can’t beat that. It also includes a free sewing pattern you can print out to cut out all the fabric pieces you will need, like the tail, head, and legs. I cannot wait to get started on this. Gather up the family and sew a few of these today!
You’ll only need a few other basic supplies like some matching thread, some craft felt, some thread, and a hand sewing needle. A pencil or other marking utensil is needed to draw on your felt as well. Don’t forget your fabric scissors or my preferred method, your rotary cutter, mat, and ruler. Gather up all your supplies and let’s get started!

How To Sew A Sock Dinosaur
The first step in this how to sew a sock dinosaur project is to pick out a sock. I wanted my dinosaur to be green, so I picked out a green sock. You can choose whatever color you want. Get a green sock, and stuff it with fiberfill or a similar material. I have used fiberfill for several projects like this and they have turned out great every time.
Stuff it until you get the body, cut off the excess, then use thread to pull the bottom together so there are no holes and sew it up.
Next, cut a circle out of the green sock for a face. You can freehand this or use the included free pattern.
Then, fold the cut edge of the circle in and sew it onto the head.
When there’s not much left, stuff the face and sew all the way through. This will give your sock dino a nicer look.
Now on this DIY dinosaur sock tutorial, we will work on the parts of the face. Take your white felt and draw two eyes on it. You can use the pattern for this or just freehand it. Cut out your circles.
Take some thread and some black Sew black sequins on the eyes.
Now just sew the eyes onto the face.
For the nose, sew on 2 black sequins. Your sock dinosaur is really starting to take shape!
Now we will work on the mouth for our dino plushiw. Take some white felt and draw a zigzag line for teeth. Cut it out and sew it onto the face.
For the tail, draw a dino tail on a green sock, cut it out, and start sewing around the edge. When you get about halfway around the edge, stuff the tail to the desired firmness.
Sew on the open end of the dino tail.
Next on this fun sewing tutorial, we will work on the legs for our little dinosaur. For the legs of our dinosaur, use the template to draw 4 legs on the remaining green sock. Cut them out.
Start by sewing the cutout feet together at the edges, stuff one open end, then sew to make the 4 feet.
Sew them onto the dinosaur. We are almost done with this fun sewing project.
For the last step in the how to sew a sock dinosaur, draw a zig-zag line from the dino’s head to the end of the tail on white felt and cut it out.
Simply sew it onto the dinosaur.
And that’s it! Now you know how to sew a sock dinosaur! This is so cute and would make a fun gift for your littles. Why pay more in-store when you can make this yourself for pennies on the dollar. This cost next to nothing to make and is sure to be a hit. I made several of these in different colors to give away in the upcoming holiday season.
