Easy Way To Sew A Fleece Ear Warmer Headband
Step 1: Cut Fabric
The first step in this easy way to sew a fleece ear warmer headband it to cut out your fabric. We are going to cut out the four pieces of the ear warmer. You will cut TWO rectangles that are 5” x 21” and TWO rectangles that are 1 ¾” x 4”.
Step 2: Construct the Main Piece
Once your pieces are cut out, we will begin putting the main headband piece together. Place the two larger rectangles’ right sides together, which means the pattern sides of the fabric should be facing one another. Pin along the long edge and sew ½” from the edge.
Turn the piece right side out through one of the short ends so the pattern is on the outside. Topstitch a straight stitch down both long sides about a ½” from the edge. This will be roughly on top of your previous seam.
Step 3: Construct the Pinched Piece
Now on this easy fleece ear warmer headband tutorial, you will place the two smaller rectangles right sides together. Pin or clip the long edges and sew about ¼” from the edge on both sides.
Flip this right side out through one of the short ends, which should give you a small tube.
Fold the tube short edge to short edge and then sew down this short edge with about a ¼” inseam.
Flip this right side out so the seam you sewed is on the inside.
Step 4: Finish Assembling the Ear Warmer
Next on this DIY fleece ear warmer sewing tutorial, fold or pinch one of the open sides of the long rectangle and slide the smaller rectangle in the middle. You can choose if you want the small rectangle to be completely in the center or a bit off-center.
With the small rectangle in the middle, fold the larger rectangle in half with both open ends together. Pin and sew the open ends of the large rectangle using a ½” inseam.
To make the new seam flat, press each side down on opposites sides and then sew each side. I used clips to hold it down while I sewed.
Once done, flip right side out and you are all done! Now you know an easy way to sew a fleece ear warmer headband! This is a fun and simple sewing project anyone can do. It would make a great gift as well. You can make these fleece ear-warmers for much cheaper than you could purchase in-store, so pick out some cute fabric and make a few of these.
