DIY Sherpa Infinity Scarf Tutorial

Sherpa is a warm and fuzzy fabric that will keep you warm all winter. Follow this easy tutorial to sew a DIY Sherpa infinity scarf for yourself and your friends.

There is no reason to be intimidated by sewing with Sherpa. It is thick but can be used like cotton or flannel fabrics to make some awesome projects. Some basic sewing supplies are all you need.

An infinity scarf uses 1/4 yard of Sherpa fabric. That means you can get four scarves out of a yard making this an affordable gift option for the holidays. All the ladies will love them, and they are perfect for matching in family photos.

Supplies to Make a Sherpa Infinity Scarf

The thick pile of chunky Sherpa fabric masks seams and sewing imperfections, which is perfect for a beginner sewing project. Its is so cuddly that no one will notice if your lines are straight or not.

How to Make a Sherpa Infinity Scarf

First, trim the edges of the fabric to make them straight. Just kidding! The chunky fabric won’t cut straight. Just make sure the edges aren’t jagged and rough when cutting 1/4 yard.

Next, fold the fabric in half lengthwise. The two shortest sides should be end-to-end, forming a loop. Pin the short ends together.

Sew on your sewing machine using a 1/4″ seam allowance.

Now fold the Sherpa in half longways. The hem you just made should be facing inside when the two edges are brought together.

Then pin in place.

Sew using a 1/4″ seam allowance.

Then all you have to do is trim any loose threads.

Your Sherpa infinity scarf is now ready to wear or gift!
