Cut the elastic

Once you have done that, cut a 6.5″ piece of 3/8″ wide elastic.

Sew the sides

With right sides of fabric together, sew it into a long tube using 1/4″ seam allowance. Don’t sew all the way to the end. Leave about an inch to an inch and half at each end for attaching and allowing the threading of the elastic.

Sew ends


Sew together the right sides of the ends of the fabric.

String Elastic


String elastic through using safety pins.

Sew closed


Pull fabric together until ends of elastic meet. Sew ends of the elastic together going back and forth several times to secure.

Sew Elastic


Sew opening closed using a straight stitch very close to the edge of the fabric.

How To Make the Tie
